Gloria Frances Martinez passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Jan 21 at 8:33 p.m. at her home with immediate family members at her bedside after a brief but painful struggle with cancer. Gloria is survived by her devoted, caring and loving husband Larry whom doted on her and spoiled her with anything she desired. She is also survived by her two special sons whom she loved dearly, Brian and his wife Stephanie, and Kevin and his fiancée, Esmeralda. Her Grandchildren whom are the brightest sunlight of her life Myesha (Cody Lovell), Jared and Devin. Her great, great grandchildren Adam, Aiden, Mason, JJ and DJ whom are the shining stars of her life. Her siblings, brothers, Carlos and Domingo Angel Jr. Her sisters Irene Garcia(Arthur), Dolores Angel, Sylvia Martinez(Amador), Annie Trujillo(Phil), and Renee Sandoval(Martin). Her sister in-laws, Irma Bustos(Ray) Tina Archuleta(Pete), and very special sister-in-law Angela Martinez. She is also survived by nieces and nephews and many special friends too numerous to mention here.

Gloria was preceded in death by her maternal Grandparents Frank and Lola Lobato whom raised and cared for her for many years. Her paternal Grandmother Antonia Angel. Her Father and Mother, Domingo Sr. and Caroline Angel. Her father-in-law and mother-in-law Sebedeo and Socorro Martinez. Her maternal Uncles and Aunt, Alcario, Felix Lobato and Elodia Mendoza. Her paternal Uncles, Frank and Ramon Angel.

Gloria was born on September 26, 1948. She attended school in Santa Fe and graduated in 1967 from Santa Fe High School. She also attended cosmetology school and opened and managed her beauty salon, “The Spanish Comb” and became well known by her many clients for her skills not only at cutting hair but also became a master of the hairstyles of the times and was known to most of her clients rightfully so as “ANGEL”.

One day she met a handsome young man by the name of Larry Martinez whom noticed her and began to pursue her and he dated her for 3 years and eventually got the courage to ask her Grandfather, Frank Lobato if he could marry her. Larry proposed to her in June of 1971. This resulted in Larry and Gloria saying their

marriage vows at the Cathedral of St. Francis of Assisi on June 24, 1972 which began a true loving lifetime of 52 years as a married couple here on earth and will continue for all of eternity. On June 15, 1977 Gloria gave birth to her first son Brian and once again on March 10, 1985 she gave birth to her second son Kevin. Later she would become a partner as a part owner along with her beloved, hard working Larry of a successful business, LM Concrete Pumping. Soon after due to her love of all children she also decided to obtain her CDL license so she could drive for the Santa Fe Public Schools which she did for 17 years her favorite bus was #43. Although Blue and Orange were not her favorite colors she often wore them as win or lose she was a loyal Denver Broncos fan. Gloria’s honorary pallbearers will be her Grandson, Devin and her Great Grandson Aiden.

Gloria was and is a very special, kind, loving person to all who knew her and also to perfect strangers. A Rosary to celebrate her life will be prayed at Santa Maria De La Paz Catholic Church, 11 College Dr. Santa Fe, New Mexico on Saturday, February 8th at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial to present her to the Lord our God will occur at the same location on Monday, February 10, at 10:00 a.m. with internment to follow at Rosario Cemetery, 499 N. Guadalupe St. in Santa Fe. We will truly miss our sweet Gloria. May she Rest in Peace. God Bless her. AMEN!
