Gloria Dofflemyer

March 3, 1944 — February 23, 2023

Gloria “Punky” Dofflemyer, 78, went home to be with Our Lord on February 23, 2023 surrounded by her family. As a single mother, Gloria completed her studies in cosmetology, operating her own hair salon in Pecos, NM for a few years. In 1975, she began her waitressing career with Tia Sophia’s, serving locals and tourists for over 25 years. She was a proud member of The Third Order of St Francis.

Her love for music was evident by her large collection of LP’s, cassettes and CD’s with Willie Nelson being her favorite country singer. Her commitment to service was reflected in the special care she showed to all. She also enjoyed acrylic painting and always looked forward to attending ceramics class and spending quality time with her friends at the senior center. Above all, she loved being a grandmother and her precious dog, Snuggles.

Gloria was born on March 3, 1944, preceded in death by her parents, Fidel Dofflemyer, Sr., Reynalda Martinez and Tony Ortega, brother Fidel Dofflemyer, Jr., father of her children, Joe Peña, sons Anthony and Ron Peña, son-in-law, Vincente Encinias, brothers-in-law, Tony Mendonca and George” Ronnie” Montoya. She is survived by her daughter, Norma Encinias (Jason), daughter-in-law, Theresa Peña; grandchildren, Nicholas Peña, Jerome (Nicole) Peña, Chaînes (Michael) Peña, Mariah Peña (Wesley), Vinnie (Erica) Encinias, Jasmine Encinias (Jacob) and great granddaughter, Star Encinias; sisters Lita (Danny) Arellano, Molly Dofflemyer, Kathy Mendoca, brother William “Bill” Dofflemyer, Aunt Gail Tanuz, Tillie Peña, Jeannie Peña, Connie Vargas, Rose Montoya, Geraldine Peña; godchildren, Debra Jackson, Francisco Armijo, Stephen Alaveraz and Eric Mendonca and numerous extended family and friends she held close to her heart.

Rosary will be recited at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 8th at 6:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, March 9th at 11am, Internment to follow at Rosario Cemetery.

Her family wishes to thank all her healthcare providers, especially Jasmine and Carol, homecare nurses, Sonya Armijo, Santa Fe Care Center staff, Christus St. Vincent /Hospice and Rivera Family Funeral.
