Gloria Mae Everhart
Gloria M. Everhart died peacefully at her home in Los Alamos, New Mexico on February 15, 2008, at 77 years of age.
Gloria M. Everhart was born in Cotopaxi, Colorado on May 16, 1929. As a girl, she lived in Cotopaxi, Texas Creek and Silver Cliff, Colorado. She attended Custer County School until her family moved to Naples, California. Gloria graduated from Banning High School in Banning, California.
In January 1946, she married Robert E. Everhart. In 1947, they moved to Los Alamos, New Mexico. She remarked that at the time, she thought she "could live there for a few months" and remained there until her death. She worked as an Engineering Assistant for Zia Engineering from age 18 to her retirement.
Gloria enjoyed played the piano and loved playing Rag Time and could play by ear.
A descendent of a pioneer family in Westcliffe, Gloria's heart remained in the Valley and she spent time at the ranch, on a regular basis.
Her parents, Ed and Myrtle Powell and Uncles, Olin and Elton Camper, preceded her in death. Her husband, Ernie Everhart passed away in 2002 after 53 years of marriage.
Her daughter, Trina Everhart Long and grandson, Hunter Long of Parker, Colorado, survive Gloria Everhart. Her brother, Gary Powell and sister, Jackie Rawls remain in California, as well as, nephews, nieces and cousins in California and Colorado.
Arrangements are pending. Interment will be held at Ula Cemetery in Westcliffe, Colorado.
