Grant Campbell Besley, 71, of Taos, revered pilot and renowned aviator, died in a tragic accident on Wednesday, July 10. Grant flew planes for United Airlines for 38 years and also flew with Doctors without Borders and Wings of Hope, using his piloting skills to transport patients for medical care, which he also did here for Holy Cross Hospital. While at United, he organized the Employee Assistance Program, helping countless pilots with drug and alcohol problems to achieve sobriety and get them back to flying. Grant was an integral member of the Life Wings Team at Holy Cross Hospital. He leaves behind his bride of eleven years, Joan, sons Mike Besley (Julie), David Besley, and Ben Fulroth (Naai); daughters Ann Swalwell (Ron), Jane Sheehan (Bill), Caroline Rose Besley, and Robyn Fulroth; six adorable grandchildren; brother Tom Besley and
sister Susan Besley; nieces and nephews;and countless friends and fellow pilots across the country.
Grant was doing what he did and loved best, soaring with the eagles. His Send-Off Celebration will be held at the Taos Airport on Sunday, July 28th at
