Grant Searcey

1976 — October 27, 2018

On Saturday, October 27th, 2018, Grant Searcey, loving husband, friend to all and celebrated artist, passed away at the age of 42. Grant was born in 1976 in Pawnee City, NE to Anita “Maria” Anderson and John Searcey. He graduated Beatrice High School and received his college degree from the University of Nebraska. He was a professional artist since the age of 17 and knew that thru his art he could affect the world. On Feb. 12th, 2005, he married his soul mate, Mindy Searcey. Grant gave us with many things to remember in our journey. Always look at art with an open heart and perceive what you feel in the moment without doubt. This is YOUR truth. Know it and trust it as it will not lead you astray. Laugh as much as you can at life. It’s complicated. You can be beat down by it or you can create something beautiful with it. The choice is completely yours. Every single one of us is an artist. The value of what we create is up to us. Change is good. It gives you perspective and with perspective you can create something magical. A heart transplant does not a man make. Cancer does not a man diminish. What you do with these hard moments in life is what defines you in the end. Live YOUR life. Say what you really want. Surround yourself with happy people. Grace comes from doing what you truly want in this life. Grant had a passion for painting and creative expression. He also loved the water, and he combined his two favorite things to create imaginative and whimsical fun art. His paintings of various sea creatures and unique characters were much admired not only by friends and family, but by all who purchased his artwork from shows and galleries around the country. He was a social genius, good human being and friend to every person he encountered. He was known for his positive attitude, creativity, infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit. Grant is survived by his wife Mindy, his mother, Anita “Maria” Anderson, father John Searcey , his step father Karl Anderson and sister Beth Searcey and friends and family too numerous to list but not forgotten. He was a person that always brought a smile to your face and often your heart. He will be remembered by all that came in contact with him. Arrangements by Rivera Family Funeral Home, Taos.
