Greg Pease

1950 — April 30, 2019

Greg Robert Pease passed away on April 30, 2019 in Taos, New Mexico. He is survived by his wife, Sue, son, Zac of Bellingham WA, twin brother, Marc (Suzanne) of Vashon Island WA, and Sue's children, Kristen and Mark Shelburg. Greg was born in 1950, to Margaret and Larry Pease in Seattle, Washington. He grew up on Queen Anne Hill and graduated from Queen Anne High School in 1969. He was a proud Grizzly and one of the "Band of Brothers," who were lifelong friends. Greg received a degree in Law, Society and Justice from the University of Washington in 1973. In 1978, Greg decided to stop drinking alcohol which enabled him to live life large. After graduation, he worked for Boeing developing alternative energy systems. In 1980 Greg moved to Juneau, Alaska and worked for the Alaska State Legislature. He also worked at KTOO radio station and hosted a fishing show "Wet a Line" every Friday for 14 years, as well as giving nightly legislative updates. He became the executive director of Gastineau Human Services in 1988. Through Greg's leadership and expertise, many programs were developed to aid people who had been marginalized by society and the justice system. Greg's commitment to the belief that all human beings were deserving of equal opportunities and capable of positive changes earned him many state and national awards, including "The Long Haul Award" from the State of Alaska for his tireless dedication to end homelessness and and the "APPA Community Awareness Through Media Award." Greg was a champion for peace, even traveling to Russia with a singing group promoting peace. In each community he lived in, Greg used his larger than life personality to promote a kinder and more loving world. Greg loved everyone and everything, and he let you know it, making friends easily wherever he lived or traveled. He was a well loved man. Greg loved sharing his stories, his love of sports, and his poetry. He also did radio commercials in Taos, making people laugh daily at his zaniness. He enjoyed golfing, fishing with Glenn, watching sunrises on his back portal, and walking his dog Ollie. Greg had many gifts, and his gift of humor was his greatest. Greg is proceeded in death by his parents and QA friends Mike Arch, Greg Gardner and John Varga.
