Guadalupe “Meme” Gonzales, a resident of Moffatt, Colorado was born on December 12 of 1949 to Manuel and Anna Gonzales and was peacefully called to his eternal rest on April 5th, 2025.
Mr. Gonzales is predeceased by his loving wife Loretta, son Michael A. Gonzales, grandson Michael Gonzales whom he loved and raised like a son, his father Manuel E. Gonzales, siblings David, Mike, Jerry and Martin Gonzales and Anna Marie Voss, father and mother-in-law Jose Miguel Maestas and Mary Francis Salazar of Chamita, brothers-in-law Lawrence Maestas, Lee Gonzales and Tony Salazar and sisters-in-law Joann Avila, Jenny Atencio and Joan Maestas.
He is survived by his mother Anna Gonzales of El Guique, son Charles Gonzales of Colorado, siblings Joseph and his wife Debbie Gonzales, Pamela Madrid and companion Randy, brothers and sisters-in-law Darlene Maestas and husband Humberto Lolo Atencio, and Rosalio Avila, his beloved dogs Sugar and Julio, and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Guadalupe, known to those closest to him as “Meme” was a very responsible and hardworking man all his life. In his younger years he managed two 7 11 locations in Espanola and Santa Fe and in his free time enjoyed camping, being outdoors and hanging out with his cousins and other family. In his later years, he enjoyed passing the time by going to the Casinos.
He was a very family-oriented man and always had a love for animals. He never failed to make time for his family, for he loved spending all the time that he could with them. He married Loretta in 1969 and from there they went on to open a restaurant in Espanola, and later another in Colorado where they were well known for their amazing food and hospitality. Mr. Gonzales will be remembered as a kind, hardworking family man and will be missed by all.
A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday April 23rd, 2025, at 10:30am, at St John the Baptist Parish in Ohkay Owingeh.
The family of Mr. Gonzales has entrusted Rivera Family Funerals and Cremations of Espanola to care for him and his final wishes. We offer our most sincere condolences to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him and we thank his family for their trust.
