Guy-Lucas Fernandez 12-27-74 – 9-3-16 Guy-Lucas Fernandez “Guy”, 41, beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, in-law, Coach and life-long resident of Santa Fe passed away on Saturday, September 3rd, surrounded by dozens of family members, after a short illness. Guy was a standout player for the Horsemen rushing for over 1,000 yards during his Junior year. Guy’s passion was coaching football for the Horsemen, assisting on three State Championship teams. He was a loyal Chicago Bears fan. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved snowboarding, camping, fishing, gardening and cooking. Guy loved spending time with his wife and family. Ginger, Dillon and Pepe were more than pets, they were family. He was a loved and involved Uncle to his nieces and nephews. Guy is preceded in death by his grandparents, Manuel and Matilda Mora, Orlando and Carmen Fernandez, mother-in-law Nancy DuGay. Guy is survived by his wife of 18 years, Cueva Hernandez-Fernandez; his parents David and Corrine Fernandez, his siblings Sandy (Gerald) and her kids Daniel, Amanda, Missy and Marcos, Dante (Barbara) daughter Gracie, Matt, Joey (Fran) and his kids Joel, Jordan, Joliaunna, Jocelyn, Joey Miklo and Joelyn, his brother and best friend Josh and brother in- law Danny Valenzuela; his father in-law Eloy Hernandez; his sisters and brothers in-law Pilar, Eloysa, Nana (Frank), Desiree (Juan), Milagro (Rachel), Wah (Jason), Salvador (Samantha), Manny (Berna) and adorable niece Victoria. Pallbearers: Josh Fernandez, Richard Fernandez, Danny Valenzuela, Daniel Valenzuela, Joel Fernandez, Milagro Hernandez, Salvador Hernandez and Freddie Barela. A rosary will be held on Tuesday, September 13th at 7:00pm at Santa Maria De La Paz. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 14th at 10:30am at Santa Maria De La Paz with interment to follow at Memorial Gardens. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rivera Funeral Home. The family would like in lieu of flowers to make a donation to the St Mike’s Track & Field Fund in Guy’s name.
