Mr. Harold Villa, age 64 of Santa Fe, NM died peacefully on Friday October 7, 2011. He was preceded in death by his father Harold Villa in 1949, and brothers Arthur and Richard Lopez. He is survived by his dear mother Teresa L. Ojeda of San Diego, CA, his nephew Isaac Villa and siblings: Benito and Daniel Villa, Linda and Diana Ojeda, numerous nephews and nieces and other relatives.
He was employed as an Administrative Assistant at The Small Business Community Development Center at the Santa Fe Community College, and was retired from The U.S. Department of Defense.
Harold Villa joined the NMSBDC Network as a temporary Department Secretary in September of 2002 and became permanent in November 2002. He came from San Diego where he worked 14 years for the Department of Defense in Human Resources. He works at the Lead Center in Santa Fe as an Administrative Assistant. His specialties include data gathering, updating and organizing, database management, Excel spreadsheets, graphs/charts, surveys and creating forms.
Harold has been an 18 wheel cross country truck driver, Cook, Hospital attendant (where he earned a Certificate in Didactic for X-Ray Technician). He attended San Diego State University in the 70s where he majored in Pre-Columbian History and has lectured at UC Berkley on human sacrifice. He graduated from Alameda Technical College in October, 1986 where he learned basic secretarial skills, ten key and WordStar word processing. He completed the schools 9 month word-processing program in 3 weeks. He went on to teach himself Lotus 123 spreadsheet program, and graduated with a certificate as a Computer Data Clerk.
Harold was recruited by Oakland Army Bases Human Resources department in August, 1987 was hired and earned performance awards for good service every year with the Department of Defense. He completed Microsofts certificate program for Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint in 2001. He earned his Certification for Administrative Assistant with the NMSBDC in May, 2003. Harold enjoys playing Cards, Chess, Dominoes and has a collection of 400+ movies.
A Celebration of his was held October 20, 2011 at the Santa Fe Community College.
