Harry Karuzich

April 12, 1943 — May 5, 2023

As a born leader and very charismatic, he was crowned Homecoming king and pursued his love of football becoming an Allstar player at Palm Springs HS, UNM, and USIU (San Diego) where he graduated with a BA degree in Business Administration.

In 1965, he enlisted in the US Army, with five of his close friends, attended Officers Training School, and was discharged a 1st LT. in 1969. He worked as a construction superintendent for 20 years, building many structures such as the Eisenhower Medical Center, Hahn Co. malls, the Cultural Center in Palm Desert, Downtown Plaza Mall in Sacramento, and the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas.

While attending UNM, he became enamored with the Southwest’s wide-open spaces and beautiful landscapes, and upon retirement, the family relocated to Santa Fe, New Mexico.  This allowed him to continue exploring with his wife, Nan, on so many of adventures such as: Fly fishing on the Pecos,  day trips to Abiquiu area, Taos Pueblo and beyond…constantly exploring new horizons.  He lived life to the fullest with his wife always by his side.

Harry was known for his sense of humor, outgoing and friendly personality. He always extended a helping hand and genuine willingness to help a friend.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, Harry A. and Elizabeth Karuzich, and his son, Joey Karuzich.  He is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Nan, his sister Karen Magranet, brother-in-laws, Jim Stephens and Michael Magranet, sister-in-law, Jo Churchwell, and several nieces and nephews.

He will be greatly missed by his family and his many devoted, long-term friends.
