Helen R. Lujan 86, passed away peacefully on August 20th, 2024, with her son Charles and daughter in law Joann by her side. Helen was born on July 18th ,1938 to Jose E. Romero and Eursinia Romero. Helen is preceded in death by her parents and her husband Phillip I. Lujan amongst other family members. Helen was a long- life resident of Cuyamungue, New Mexico. Helen attended school in Pojoaque and was a High School Graduate of Pojoaque. Helen afterwards met the love of her life Phillip and were married for a period of 63 years. Shortly after their marriage, they then adopted and raised their only child Charles. Helen was a United States Postal Clerk for the Pojoaque Post Office for several years. Helen at one point in her life became involved in politics where she ran for the position of the Santa Fe County Clerk. Helen loved her family and friends dearly. She loved hosting parties for different occasions, but what she loved most of all was cooking for the parties and being complimented for her Red Chile, Tortillas, and Biscochitos. Helen was a member of Our Lady of Guadelupe Parish in Pojoaque where she taught Catechism Classes. Helen was an active member of the El Rancho Senior Center, where she enjoyed Tin Work and Ceramics as well as being able to socialize with her friends at the Senior Center. Helen enjoyed getting together with family and friends to go camping and really loved and enjoyed traveling abroad. Helen was a very generous person; she was always willing to help those in need. Helen is survived by her son Charles and wife Joann Lujan, brothers Manuel Romero and wife Erma, Lawrence Romero and wife Gloria, Jim Romero and wife Lorraine, sister-in-law Dolores Lujan. Grandchildren Charles Lujan Jr. and wife Andrea, Yvonne Valencia and husband Matthew, Cruz Lujan and wife Jolene, Angelo Lujan (Baleigh). Great Grandchildren Marcus, Alessandra, Alexis, Layla, Cruz, Cash, and Beau. Helen will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Services will be held on September 4, 2024, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Pojoaque. Rosary to be held at 9:00am, mass 10:00am, burial will be held at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe at 2:30pm on the same date. The family would like to give A Special Thank You to neighbor Marie Bustos, as well as the staff at Vista Hermosa living care for their compassionate and professional care. We would also like to extend thanks to Rivera Funeral Home for their professionalism in reference to the arrangements for Helen’s services.
