Helen Sutton

Helen (Hecky) Sutton, 91, passed away August 13, 2021.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Edna Sutton; sister, Eleanor Lou Smith and niece Patricia Sue (Smith) Heiserman.  She is survived by Brenda Carignan, Paul Smith, Danny (Christie) Smith and Coleen (Tim) Guidry. She is survived by 15 great nieces and nephews and 22 great-great nieces and nephews. 

Helen was born January 4, 1930, in Cranford, New Jersey and worked as a registered nurse, retiring from Elizabeth General Hospital.  Her nursing career spanned over 40 years.  She enjoyed traveling through Europe but one of her favorite places to relax was Pagosa Springs, Co.  She enjoyed countless daytrips around the Santa Fe area.

Helen’s favorite pastimes included reading mysteries, working crossword and jigsaw puzzles and indulging in dark chocolate, ice cream and dutch pretzels. Helen especially enjoyed the companionship of her cats.

Helen was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Santa Fe.  She was active in the women’s group and historical committee.   Our family would like to thank her “Second Family” church group, they held a very special place in her heart.  We will all miss your beautiful blue eyes and smile, as well as your sense of humor. 

The service will be held Saturday, September 18, 2021, at 11:00 am at First Presbyterian Church of Santa Fe.  Reception to follow.  In lieu of food and flowers, memorials may be made to the Second Family, First Presbyterian Church of Santa Fe through fpcsantafe.org.
