Herminio Garcia

Herminio Garcia, age 89 died on Thursday, December 21, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at the Espanola Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Espanola, NM. Herminio was a veteran of the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. He worked at the Albuquerque Veteran's Hospital for many years before retiring. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew his for exceptional sense of humor and humble personality. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Garcia; his parents, Jose Atilano & Rosana Garica; his maternal grandparents who raised him as their son, Carlos Felipe & Amalia Salazar; his brother, Carlos, Richard, Eppie & Leroy Garcia; his sister, Mary F. (Carol) Maez. He survived by his campanion, Ms. Bennie Romero, his son, Ron Abram & wife Patricia, his grandson, who was like his own son, Sean Abram & wife Edwina; his sisters, Susie Chacon, Priscilla Perea, Yoland Moya (Willie), Rosie Jones & Dylin Martinez; his aunt, Yosina Archuleta; brother in law, Alex Maez; sister in law, Dora Garcia. Very close cousins who were like his brothers: Severino (Sef) Borrego & wife Bertha and Carlos Rodriquez & wife Sally. His godson, Joe Henry Borrego and his goddaughter, Rosie Jones. Also survived by several nieces, nephew and many other relatives and friends. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, January 2, 2017, 9:00 am-10:00 am at the Santa Cruz Catholic Church with the Funeral Mass to follow at 10:00 am and Interment will be held at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 pm. A reception will be held at the Knights of Columbus following the funeral mass.
