Herson Montoya

August 29, 1959 — January 30, 2024

Herson Montoya was born on August 29, 1959 and joined our lord in his forever home on January 30, 2024 at the age of 64.

Herson was a devote Catholic and a member of San Isidro Church where he taught confirmation for many years. He touched many lives with his infectious smile and warm hugs. He could light up any room with his humor “man was he funny.” He was so caring and always willing to lend a helping hand. He met many people and left an impression on everyone he met. He loved his family, his hobbies were being in the mountains skiing, fishing, or on the golf course, and he was a lifelong Denver Broncos fan.

Herson was a hard worker with many professions he was a mechanic for many years working at AAMCO, then started his career in state government at the Highway Department. He worked as a journeyman plumber, worked in construction and was self employed owning an alignment shop.

Herson was preceded in death by his father, Rudy Montoya, mother, Dolores Jackson, Step-father, Roy Jackson, brother-in-Law, Alex Maestas, granddaughter, Madaline Montoya and uncle, Ivan Friday.

Herson is survived by his 3 children; daughter Valerie and her husband Matthew, son Stephen, and son Christopher and his wife Melanie. 9 Grandchildren; Matthew Herson, Natasha, Stephen, Carlos, Jaykob, Antonio, Andres, Isaiah, and Elijah. Siblings Debbie Maestas, Anthony (Marlene), Joseph (Valerie), Martin (Maria), Step-mother Rubanna Montoya, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers are: Matthew Herson, Stephen, Jaykob, Antonio, Andres, Isaiah and Elijah. 

Services will be held on Thursday February 15, 2024 at San Isidro Parish Center, 2148 San Isidro Crossing. A Rosary will be recited at 10:00 am followed by mass at 11:00 am. Christian Burial will follow immediately after at Santa Fe Memorial Gardens 417, East Rodeo Rd, Santa Fe NM.
