Howard L. Frucht, M.D. died on October 17 at home surrounded by family. He was 85 and had a life dedicated to helping his family and those in need. His was a medical practice with home visits to patients. His offers of free care to those without means often resulted in gifts of potatoes, hand knitted socks, and paintings. Howard taught his daughters compassion, respect and dignity. He traveled the world with Carolyn, the love of his life, his wife of 58 years. Dr. Frucht was an accomplished sculptor who was known for his fabulous wood carvings and bronzes of birds, mammals and water-life.
Howard is survived by his wife, Carolyn, his three daughters, Sylvia LaMar and husband Rod Mehling, Elisabeth Frucht and partner Edwin Eppich, Abby Frucht and partner Chuck Dahlke, former son in law Randy LaMar, grandchildren, Alex, Nathan, Jess, and Aimee and partner David Hernandez, and his great-grandson Donicio LaMar Hernandez.
Howard was the kindest, gentlest, wisest man on the planet.
Howard's ashes were interned October 20, 2011 at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. A gathering celebrating his life was held at Kingston Residence on October 22, 2011.
