Irene Herrera Madrid, aged 71, of Hernandez, New Mexico, passed away on February 20, 2024. She was born on June 28, 1952, in Silver City, NM. Irene's career was focused on her beloved seniors, dedicating her time and passion to their care. She served as the Director for Rio Arriba County Adult Day Care, Director of Foster Grandparents and Senior Companions, and the State of New Mexico Senior Affairs for the Public Health Department.In her leisure time, Irene enjoyed riding the Harley with her husband, son, and wonderful biker friends. She found joy and relaxation in the open road and the company of loved ones.Irene is survived by her husband, Lawrence Madrid, son Steven Serrano (Claudette), grandchildren Zoe and Zachary Serrano, sister Rose Turcotte (Richard) nephew Richard Turcotte, brother Leroy Herrera, best friend Becky Vigil (Harold), daughter in law Angelica Martinez Serrano (Christopher) in-laws Harold and Edith Madrid, Toby and Jane Madrid, Velma Camargo (Lorenzo), Angie Herrera, Alfred and Tina Madrid, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel B. and Celia Herrera, niece April Turcotte, in laws Benito and Victoria Madrid, Armando Madrid, Alex and Ida Madrid, Cleo Madrid, nephews Rudy and Paul Sandoval, niece Erline Perez and many other family members dear to her heart. Public visitation will take place on Friday February 23,2024 at 5:00 pm with a rosary to follow at 6:00 pm at Rivera Family Funeral Home. Private interment will be held. The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations be made to a charity of your choice in Irene's memory.Irene’s spirit and enduring love will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
