Isabel Borrego Valencia, Age 98 was surrounded by family, friends and her angels when she went peacefully home into the arms of our Lord on Tuesday, October 4, 2011. She was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and was an active member of the Altar Rosary Society for over 50 years. She will be greatly missed for her love, compassion and charitable heart. She was humble and a private person who was a devout Catholic. Her strong faith helped her throughout life. She has now joined her beloved Husband Juan Valencia. She is survived by her children, Mary Sanchez and husband Raymond "Goloso", Juan R.A Valencia (Georgia), Christine Abeyta (David), Gloria Valencia and two nieces whom she raised: Debbie Salazar (Larry) and Macrina Montoya (Rick). She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Her legacy of 5 Generations will continue to live on in the hearts of her family. She was the 2nd of 13 children, born to Adrian and Elena Borrego of Santa Cruz. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Juanita, Ursulo, Joe, Annie, Connie, Johnnie, Benito and Jerry. She leaves behind her other siblings, Lourdes, Gilbert, Leroy, Bobby, Emelda and Manuel.
Recitation of the Rosary was held on Friday October 7th at 7:00 pm at Rivera Family Funeral Home Chapel in Espanola. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, October 8th at 9:00 am at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Canada. Interment will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
Serving as Pallbearers will be: Daniel Sanchez, Mario Abeyta, Larry Salazar, Sergio Romero, Jacob and Christopher Torres. Honorary Pallbearers will be her son, son-in-laws, brothers and remaining grandsons.
