Ivan Friday

Ivan Joseph Friday, age 83 of Santa Fe, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, after a short illness on Monday February 7th, 2022. He was born to the late Robert Friday and Frances Aranda on February 4th ,1939 in Cerrillos NM. Ivan was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Friday and Frances Aranda and his sons Isaac Friday and Gilbert Larranaga Jr. and siblings Cleo, Dolores, Manuel, and Joe Larry.

Ivan owned his own business, Ivan Friday’s Painting as an interior/exterior painter and retired his business after 40 years and had been an active member of the Caballeros de Vargas for many years.

Ivan was a very family orientated man who loved his family dearly and his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren loved and adored him dearly. He loved watching football and was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan and attended numerous games throughout the years. Ivan enjoyed camping, fishing, going to the casinos, but most of all, just being in the presence of the love of his life, Ila. Ivan and Ila were married on April 11, 1982 and were happily married for 39 years and together raised their children and grandchildren.

Ivan was an amazing man, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, brother in-law and friend. He was loved and respected by so many. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered and in our hearts.

Ivan is survived by the love of his life, Ila Friday; his sons Eko Gilbert Friday and Elijah Friday; daughters Francine Hartzog and husband Jerry Hartzog, Angelina Quintana and husband Phillip Quintana and Carolee Santistevan; grandchildren: Andrea Larranaga-House, Hollie Gonzales (Shaun), Eric Hartzog (Carlene), Gabriella Hartzog, Devin Larranaga (Gabriela), Rio Hatton (Malerie), Marcus Larranaga, Regina Montoya, Lanelle Friday, Gary Friday and Ryan Friday; 28 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren; siblings: Joseph Aranda; nephew: Herson Montoya; In Laws: Carmel Archuleta (Walter); Margie Tanuz (John) and Gloria Fox.

Pallbearers: Jerry Hartzog, Phillip Quintana, Eric Hartzog, Rio Hatton, Shaun Gonzales, Devin Larranaga and Marcus Larranaga.

Honorary Pallbearers: Eko Friday, Elijah Friday, Jacqueline Cruz and Herson Montoya                                                                                                       

A recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 (2/22/22) at 9:00 am and the Burial Mass to follow at 10:00 am at St. Annes Church, 511 Alicia Street, Santa Fe, NM 87501. Interment will take place at Rosario Cemetery.
