Jackie Suazo

February 22, 1935 — March 26, 2023

Jackie Suazo of Santa Fe, NM was born on February 22, 1935, in Abiquiu, NM to Lucia Suazo and Emejirio Jaramillo. Jackie went to be with our heavenly father on March 26, 2023, unexpectedly.

He is preceded in death by his children Jacob and Kenny Suazo, Manuel Lopez, Mother Lucia Suazo, father Emejirio Jaramillo, brothers Arturo and Nelson Suazo and Napoleon Garcia. Father in-law Benjamin Garcia and Mother in-law Beatrice Garcia.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years Olivia Lopez; son Jimmy Lopez and daughter Maxine Suazo, grandchildren he raised Tyler and Cherice Lopez, sisters Sylvia Minnie Casados (Salomon), Elena Garcia (Carlos) and brother Johnny Jaramillo (Mary Agnes).

Jackie retired from the NM State Human Rights Division in 1995 to spend time with his family.  He will be remembered for his love of people and art. He was a true artist. Growing up, Jackie played various sports including baseball and was involved with the Democratic Party. He enjoyed dancing the jigger bug and traveling with his wife.

Jackie will be missed. He loved sharing stories of his childhood upbring in Abiquiu NM and all the time he spent with famous artist Georgia O’Keefe, whom he referred to as “Mother O’Keefe”. 

Serving as Pallbearer’s are Roland Fernandez, Jimmy Lopez, Tyler Lopez, Russell Casados, Robert Fernandez, Leo Garcia, and James Suazo.

Honorary Pallbearers are his grandchildren, Cherice Lopez, Valerie Romero, Vanessa Romero, and Tyler Suazo.

He would like to thank his compadre Alfred and Laura Hernandez of Santa Fe, and his sister in-law Flora and brother in-law George Martinez of Albuquerque, for being so wonderful and helping in time of need.

A Rosary will be recited on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 10:00 am followed by a Mass at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Parish, 1 Church Plaza, Abiquiu, NM 87510. Burial to follow at Abiquiu Cemetery.
