Jacqueline Blachard Peralta-Ramos

Jacqueline Blanchard Peralta-Ramos, born in 1931 in Hollywood, California to Mildred Bang and John Blanchard, Jacqueline Blanchard Peralta-Ramos passed away September 18, 2016 at her home in Taos, New Mexico. She was surrounded by members of her family. She is survived by her two stepchildren Arturo H. Peralta-Ramos III of Atlanta GA and Lorian Peralta-Ramos Buckley of Aiken SC. She was known as GiGi (Gorgeous Gran) by her grandchildren Sascha and Syler Peralta-Ramos and Jamie and Ian Buckley. Jackie, as everyone else called her, grew up in Hollywood, attending Hollywood High School. She spent considerable time with some of the most notable names in film and was even taught to swim by the late Johnny Weissmuller of Tarzan fame. Her true love was riding the spirited American Saddlebred Horses on which she won numerous national competitions including at Madison Square Garden. Because of back issues she gave up riding but on her marriage to her husband Arturo, she was given two Thoroughbred broodmares. From these two mares, she created a sizable stable of racehorses although she never achieved her dream of having a Kentucky Derby winner. Prior to her marriage, Jackie had a very successful modeling career. She was one of the top designer models for Academy Award costume designer, Charles LeMaire. She appeared in magazines and in a variety of films. If there was a horse in the film, she did her own riding rather than use a stunt rider. Jackie is remembered as a truly selfless person with the purest of hearts. She was a devoted animal lover adopting numerous canine and feline strays. She was instrumental in the creation of the Taos Humane Society (Stray Hearts Animal Shelter). At her request a small funeral service was held for family members.
