James Campbell Wilhelm, 70, of Albuquerque and formerly of Los Alamos, NM passed away unexpectedly on April 5, 2019.
Jimmy, as he was affectionately known, graduated from Los Alamos High School in 1966 and as a Registered Nurse from the University of New Mexico in 1974. He served in the US Navy from 1966 - 1972.
In his earlier years Jim enjoyed camping and backpacking with his many friends and family and more recently traveling with his beloved wife, Nina, often to Las Vegas, NV and occasionally to visit her home country, Ukraine. Jimmy loved blues and rock music, often doting headphones. Jim often showed love through thoughtful gifts and "bear" hugs.
Jim was preceded in death by both of his parents Richard and Doris Wilhelm of White Rock, NM.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years Nina Wilhelm, two sons Paul Wilhelm (Jaimie) and Kevin Wilhelm (Lore) both of Albuquerque, NM. Jimmy has four grandchildren: Liam, Peyton, Noah, and Willow. He is also survived by his brother Rick Wilhelm (Maura) of Aurora, CO, and sister Patti Pope of Los Alamos, NM as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
A graveside service with Navy Honors was held at 2:15 pm, Thursday, April 18th at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rivera Family Funeral Home of Los Alamos, a special thanks to his cousin and husband, Tim and Kellie Rivera for their assistance.
