James George

February 22, 1944 — June 25, 2017

James “Jim” David George, age 73, passed away peacefully at home on June 25th, 2017 after a prolonged illness. He was born in Glenview, Illinois, and attended Coe College in Iowa. Jim earned his law degree at the University of Denver and practiced law on Indian Reservations in Minnesota. He moved to Santa Fe in the early seventies, where he built homes and later owned and operated Alpine Builder’s Supply for over forty years. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Elinor, as well as his brother, Dean George. He is survived by his wife Karen, his three children: Jamie, Barney, and Molly, as well as his grandchildren: Riley, Max, Paul, and James; he is also survived by his brother Don, and Don’s wife Eileen, George. Jim was an avid outdoorsman and athlete, a voracious reader, and he enjoyed being able to work until the very end of his life. He will be dearly missed. As Jim wished, there will be no memorial service.
