James (Jim/Jimbo) T. Smith, 62, of Española, passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and daughter on March 22nd, 2024 after a brief illness.
Jim was born on March 3, 1962 in Amarillo, TX. He was a fanatic Dallas Cowboys and sports fan, and loved listening to music, cooking, fishing, camping and hanging out with friends and family. Jim was a very talented man when it came to construction and remodeling/building houses, which he did for most of his life. Jim was raised on a farm, In his younger years, Jim dedicated himself completely to the martial arts and had multiple black belts in various martial arts in which one of those black belts was handed to him by the famous Chuck Norris in Lubbock, TX. Jim was a one of a kind funny man who was beautiful on the inside and out. Jim was not afraid to show his affection to everyone he met and came across in his life. He was a loving father, husband, brother, and friend.
Jim is preceded in death by mother Carolyn Nivens, Father James Smith Sr., Mother-in-law, Edna Valdez, and niece, Shayna Valdez.
Jim is survived by his wife, Christine “Nettie” Smith of Española NM, daughter, Nicholette Lillian Smith of Española NM, and son, James Ryan Jackson(Hannah) of Dallas, TX, granddaughter, Kinsley L. Jackson, and father-in-law, Luis E. Valdez. Siblings, Jeanita, Jeremy, Julie, Jessica and Jenaya all from Amarillo TX, and many other relatives. Jim Will be Greatly Missed by all who Knew and loved him.
