James E. Stallings, born on December 13, 1928 passed away on January 21, 2022, at the age of 93.
At the young age of 19 he moved from his birthplace Bee, Oklahoma to Los Alamos, New Mexico. He called Los Alamos “home” for the rest of his long adventurous life.
He worked for the Los Alamos National Laboratory from 1948 thru 1988. He also served proudly in the US Army, stationed overseas in Okinawa, Japan.
After his deployment, he returned to Los Alamos and continued his career with the University of California and Los Alamos National Laboratory. He retired from the Department of Energy in 1991.
He met and married the “Love of his Life”, Lucy, in 1950. After celebrating 71 years of a lifetime of beautiful memories, she passed away last month on December 15, 2021.
The Stalling’s family enjoyed dancing, fishing, camping, hunting, and fish-fries at Bandelier. Many wonderful memories were made at little league baseball games, on great summer vacations, and celebrating holidays. He loved making and watching home movies, he spent more time “splicing” the 8 mm film back together then actually watching it.
He is survived by his loving children; Sandra Anderson of Sharon, Connecticut; Loretta Jo Finley (Darryl) of Albuquerque; Wanda Stanhope (Craig) of Albuquerque; and his son, Randy Stallings (Cheryl) of Amarillo, Texas. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren will have many fond memories of their grandpa Jim.
Spending time with his family and many wonderful friends brought joy to his long, beautiful life.
A memorial service will be held in honor of both Mr. James Stallings and Mrs. Lucy Stallings on Saturday, April 2nd at The First Baptist Church of Los Alamos, 2200 Diamond Drive, at 1:30 p.m. with interment at Guaje Pines Cemetery to follow.
