James “Mooch” A. Trujillo

August 7, 1946-July 12, 2023

 

James “Mooch” Trujillo, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grand father, brother and friend passed away on July 12, 2023 at the age of 76 surrounded by family and loved ones. 

Mooch was proceeded in death by parents Augustine and Dorothea Trujillo, sisters Ernestine Ulibarri and Lala Maes, brother William “Willie” Trujillo, brothers in law James Salazar and Joedy Dominick, and nephew James “Tiny” Salazar, Jr.  

Survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Elizabeth “T”.  Children Dorothy Mendonca (Orlando), Debora Trujillo (Ramon), James Trujillo, Jr. (Rose) and Michael Trujillo (Stephanie).  Grandchildren Lynette King (Mark), Orlando Mendonca, Jr. “Little Orlie” (Danielle), Mikayla Trujillo (Diego), Adi-Ana Trujillo (Julyan), Jaiden Trujillo, Marisa Trujillo-Sandoval, Aaliyah Trujillo, Lukis Trujillo and Audrina Trujillo.  Great-grandchildren Malayah, Haylee “Hillary”, Preston, Cianna, Emily, Jeziah “JJ”, and Izaiah.   Sister Erneda Salazar, sister-in-law Theresa Dominick, Christine Trujillo and special niece Melinda Carrillo (Deacon Andy). Godson Jerry Baca and close friends, Horace Martinez, Max Baca, Ed Baca, John Gutting, Orlando Roybal and Eddie Baca. Along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Mooch enjoyed life to the end, having spent the 4th of July weekend fishing with family.  He loved to be around his children and grandchildren, and enjoyed family gatherings with all the different conversations and all the family interactions.  Mooch made it a point to talk with his children daily.   He especially loved when the grandchildren and great grandchildren came to visit.  He was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan even when they were “losers”.   He played the lottery faithfully along with going to the local casinos and frequently visiting Las Vegas, Nevada.  Mooch lived part-time in his home in Eagle Nest.  He loved to fish, breathe in the mountain air and “chase” away the prairie dogs from the yard.  He looked forward to having breakfast with his friends every Thursday and going to the grocery store daily.   Mooch was part of the Santa Fe Vintage Car Club and was a fanatic for classic cars, all his vehicles were washed and shined weekly.  Mooch was a long time member of the Elks Lodge B.P.O.E.   He will be deeply missed by many.

Pallbearers:  Orlando Mendonca, Jr., Lukis Trujillo, Aaliyah Trujillo, Audrina Trujillo, Malayah Alarid-Trujillo, Haylee Mendonca, Preston King, Cianna Trujillo, Emily Mendonca, Jeziah Gabaldon and Izaiah Gabaldon.

Honorary Pallbearers:  Horace Martinez, Max Baca, Ed Baca, John Gutting, Eddie Baca, Orlando Roybal and Jerry Baca.

Deacon Andy Carrillo will lead the rosary on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at 6:00 pm at the Rivera Family Kiva Chapel, located at 417 East Rodeo Road.  Catholic Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 27, 2023 at 10:00 am at Santa Maria de La Paz located at 11 College Avenue, Santa Fe.  Burial will follow the mass at Memorial Gardens, 417 East Rodeo Road.

The Trujillo family would like to thank the doctors and nurses in the emergency room and ICU unit of Christus St. Vincent Hospital for the compassionate care he was provided.  Along with his niece Ginene Trujillo.
