Janet C. (Larivee) Hull, 83, of Los Alamos, NM, and Centerville, MA, passed away on September 11, 2024. Jan was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Don, and her parents, Clarence and Margaret Larivee.
Born in Shrewsbury, MA, Jan moved to Cape Cod during her adolescence and graduated from Barnstable High School in the class of 1958. Her professional journey began as a Paralegal on the Cape, transitioning to a role in the legal department at Argonne National Laboratory in Downers Grove, Illinois, before moving to Ames, Iowa. Jan and Don lived in Ames for 17 years before relocating to Los Alamos, NM, in 1979. There, she found her true calling in Visitor and Educational Services at Los Alamos National Laboratory, later achieving professional certification as a Certified Meeting Planner. She served in the Protocol Office at LANL before establishing her own conference management business, which she operated until her retirement in 2012.
Jan was passionate about sewing, decorating, and organizing sightseeing adventures. She cherished her hydrangeas on Cape Cod, enjoyed collecting seashells on Sanibel Island, FL, and loved the quest to capture the beauty of sunsets through pictures wherever she went. A warm and welcoming friend, Jan delighted in gatherings and creating memories with others.
Jan’s children survive her, Stephen (Frances) and Cynthia (Sarah), and her sister, Jeanne DeForest. She was fortunate to have five grandsons: Vincent (Amy), Joshua, Noah (Aubrey), Caleb, and Abraham and a great-grandson, Archer. Though Jan is no longer with us, her memory will forever remain a cherished part of her family’s story.
A private family ceremony will be held on Cape Cod. The family kindly requests that donations be made in Jan’s name to the Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) in Los Alamos, where she volunteered for a time, or to the Centerville Public Library in MA, which she valued for its services and programs.
Please leave condolences, photos, and messages for the family.
