Janette J. Garcia arrived in Santa Fe, New Mexico, in October of 1963—the fifth of nine children born to Julio R. Garcia and Cicilia M. Garcia. Her treasured brothers are Floyd, Tim, Steve, Ricky, and their dearly loved families. Her precious sisters are Donna Valdes, Erma Nazaroff, Brenda Garcia, Beverly Kennedy, and their dearly loved families.
Janette was introduced to Jehovah God when her caring and loving mother began studying the Bible and was subsequently baptized on February 13, 1983. Thereafter, she began sharing in bringing the good news of God’s Kingdom into her community on a full-time basis.
In 1988, Janette traveled to New York to expand her ministry, and because of the diverse nationalities there she began learning various languages (i.e., Arabic, Chinese, Hindi). She also supported the Sign Language and Russian congregations, including bringing the Good News to Navajo reservations.
As a young woman coming from a cozy town of Santa Fe, Janette experienced being a world traveler due to her spiritual journey with Jehovah and enjoyed warm association with the worldwide brotherhood of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She also attended several pioneer schools and international conventions where she made many lifelong friends—some of those dear to her heart were Mary Woods, Louie and Francis Montoya. Yet, Janette also balanced her ministry with refreshing recreation and annual visits with her beloved family and loyal friends in Santa Fe.
Despite declining health in the past year, Janette never stopped “safely treasuring up for [herself] a fine foundation for the future ... the real life” promised by our Heavenly Father Jehovah. (1 Timothy 6:19) She was determined to live her life in harmony with Romans 14:8: “For if we live, we live to Jehovah, and if we die, we die to Jehovah. So, both if we live and if we die, we belong to Jehovah,” and is now laid to rest with her adored father, Julio, and eldest brother, Floyd, on June 23, 2024. Eagerly, we all look forward to her resurrection on a paradise earth, which is just around the corner.
“So my heart rejoices, my whole being is joyful. And I reside in security. For [Jehovah] will not leave me in the Grave. You make known to me the path of life. In your presence is abundant joy; There is happiness at your right hand forever.”—Psalm 16:9-11.
