Jason Rivera

Jason Alexander Rivera, age 34, lost his long battle with liver disease on Saturday, August 22, 2020 while waiting for a liver transplant.

Jason was a musican, a painter, good friend, son and nephew.  He loved listening to music, playing and singing.  He loved the out doors, going to concerts.  He enjoyed and loved all his brothers and sisters that he made as the years went by.  And too, loved by all his friends that he made thoughout his own life.  All that knew Jason, loved him and will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ernestino Rivera and grandmother Anita Rivera and an Uncle, Gilbert Rivera, all of Pojoaque, NM.

He leaves behind, his loving Uncle, Alexander Rivera, mother, Sylvia Rivera-Engstrom and step-father, Robert Engstrom.

Serving as pallbearers are Thomas Baca Gutierrez, Daniel Bustos, Raymond Joe Bustos, Vincent Hesch, Stephen Martinez, Kyle Sandoval, JJ John Trujillo, and Randy Downey. 

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 from 6 PM - 9 PM at Rivera Family Funeral Home, Espanola. (NOTE: 50 persons at any one time allowed in Rivera Family Funeral Home and social distancing with the wearing of masks required for entry).   The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thrusday, August 27, 2020 at 10 AM at Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe del Valle de Pojoaque, Pojoaque, NM.  Burial will follow immediately after the Mass.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:  Due to the COVID 19 pandemic crises, masks must be worn by everyone.  Only a total of 66 persons will be allowed in the church with social distancing enforced.  Same household members are incouraged to sit together.  Once the capacity of 66 persons has been reached, no others will be allowed to enter the church.  Only the immediate family and pallbearers will be allowed at the cemetery for the final committal services.  Thank you for your understanding as we all work and support each other praying to end of this terrible pandemic.  Please pray for our health care providers and first responders.
