Jeanette Florence (Moya) Lucero

May 8, 1938 – March 7, 2024

Jeanette Lucero, 85, gained her wings on March 7, 2024, after battling a lengthy illness. She died peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones. She was proceeded in death by her parents Juanita (Borrego) Moya and Román Moya, her son David Lucero, and her brothers Ben Moya, Philip Moya, and Armand Moya.

She is survived by her daughter, Paula Salazar (John); her grandchildren, David Lucero Jr. (Megan), Jennifer Salazar (José), Nick Salazar (Audrey), Daniel Lucero, Amanda Moya (Matthew), and Angel Chacon; her siblings, Manuel Borrego and Rose Moya; and her great grandchildren, Cristina, Davina, Eliana, Ruby, Brandon, Brody, Benjamin, Cristiano, and Matteo; as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Jeanette was raised in Los Angeles, California, but her heart was always in Santa Cruz, New Mexico, where much of her family resided. After finishing high school, she eventually moved to Santa Fe where she had a career as a Systems Analyst for the State of New Mexico. Of all of her many accomplishments, raising her two children brought her the most joy. Throughout her life, she shared a strong connection with her family. Her children have fond memories of visiting their grandmothers every Sunday in Santa Cruz to share a family meal. In her retirement, Jeanette enjoyed traveling, watching classic movies, listening to oldies music, solving puzzle books, and visiting with friends and family. Jeanette will be greatly missed but will live forever in our hearts.

The family would like to thank Presbyterian Home Healthcare and Ambercare Hospice for their kindness and compassion during her final days.

A Rosary at 11:00AM followed by an 11:30AM mass will take place at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Santa Cruz, NM on Friday, March 15, 2024, followed by burial  service at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.
