Jean L. Balagna, 87, of Los Alamos, NM., passed away on April 20, 2011.
Jean was born on a farm in Hinkley Illinois to Ensign Datus and Harriet Strever in 1923. She graduated from the University of Illinois in 1945 with a degree in Spanish. Shortly thereafter, she resided in Denver, Co. for 1 year, then moved to Los Alamos to begin her career at Los Alamos National Labs. There she met her beloved husband John P. Balagna, and they were married in 1949. Together they were blessed with two daughters, Lisa Balagna of El Mirador in Alcalde, and Rene Marie Balagna of Albuquerque, NM. Jean is also survived by numerous beloved relatives residing throughout the west and mid-west. Jean spent her later years pursuing her greatest passion, sculpting in marble.
A funeral service was held on April 23, 2011 at the Fuller Lodge in Los Alamos, NM. Interment followed at the Guaje Pines Cemetery in Los Alamos, NM.
