Jean Davis Vanderhoof, 83, resident of Santa Fe, NM passed away on December 24, 2021 due to Alzheimer’s. She was born on May 14, 1938 in Farmington, NM to Elsie and John Davis. Jean married Mervin Vanderhoof on October 28, 1973 in Denver Colorado.

She is preceded in death by her paternal grandmother; Lillian Pond Davis, paternal grandfather; Royal Davis, maternal grandmother; Josie Wilson Lansberry, maternal grandfather; Bert Lansberry, son’ Richard Davis, daughter; Rebecca Jean Mann.

She is survived by her spouse; Mervin Vanderhoof, sister; Joan Spinelli from Taos, NM, sister; Ellen (Onnie) Davis from Santa Fe, NM, brother-in-law; Charles Flynn from Santa Fe, NM, son; George Vanderhoof from Sacramento, CA, daughter; Laurie Reich from Powell, WY, son-in-law; Robert Reich from Powell, WY; 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; and a cousin, Myra Davis Manderscheid of Clovis, CA.

Santa Fe was Jean’s hometown. She grew up here attending K-12, Wood-Gormley, Harrington and Santa Fe High School.  Her extra-curricular activities and interests included sports, music, dancing and social events.  When in the grades she was an acrobat in community presentations; later, she was entered in Dorothy Park’s School of Dance, learning Ballet, Waltzes, Fox Trot and the Charleston.  As a member of the Rainbow Girls, she attained the highest order of Worthy Advisor.  Jean will always be remembered as a loyal caring daughter, mother, wife, sister and friend.  Jean’s career spanned business school, Bell Telephone operator, teletype operator, administrative secretary in New Mexico State Government to hospital Medical Records Technician.  She volunteered in favorite political election campaigns and Class of 1956 reunions.

The following volunteer organizations and services are commended for their compassionate and professional care of Jean over her struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease:  Scott’s House Hospice, Eldorado Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association, Christus St. Vincent Adult and Family Care and Emergency Services, Amber Care, Alzheimer’s Association and Memory Care Alliance.  Many thanks are extended to Jean’s neighbors in Eldorado, Santa Fe, and loyal Friends.
