Jeremy Toya

Jeremy “Jay” Toya, of Santa Fe, New Mexico, age 47, passed away on January 8, 2024, in Denver, Colorado. Jay was born June 22, 1976, in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Irene Toya. Jay was proud of his San Juan and Jemez Pueblo heritage and a devout Catholic. Jay found great fulfillment in his banking career at First National Bank of Santa Fe where he enjoyed connecting with customers and sharing his expertise. In addition to his professional life, Jay stayed active pursuing a variety of interests.  He served as the 2012 Cacique for the 300th Fiesta de Santa Fe and was the current Treasurer of La Cofradía de La Conquistadora.  As a member of the Caballeros de Vargas Jay took great pride in his responsibility and duty when participating in caring for Our Lady.  Jay enjoyed golf, camping, martial arts, and being the best storyteller especially, while being with family. Additionally, he was a passionate sports fan, supporting the NY Yankees, The Miami Dolphins, and the Detroit Pistons.  

Jay is survived by his daughter, Sara Toya; grandsons, Audyn Toya, and Abraham Toya; bonus children, Alicia Archuleta, and Carlos Archuleta; mother, Irene Toya; siblings, Gia Toya, Erika and Tony Potter, Alex Lozoya, Robert and Johannah Toya; nieces and nephews, Markus Vigil, D’Kota Potter, Skye Potter (God daughter), Avriannah Toya, and Avalynn Toya (God daughter); and many extended family members and friends.

A gathering with family and friends will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2024, in the Kiva Chapel at the Rivera Family Funeral Home 417 Rodeo Road, Santa Fe, New Mexico 87507. from 5:00pm to 7:00pm and will conclude with a Rosary at 7:00pm. A celebration of life will take place on Friday, January 26, 2024, beginning with a 9:30 a.m. Rosary and 10:00 a.m. Mass, celebrated at Santa Maria de la Paz, 11 College Ave, Santa Fe, New Mexico 87508 with a reception to follow.

Jay will be laid to rest on family property in Chama at a later date.
