Jerry Martinez, 48, a resident of Ensenada, passed away at home April 7, 2010 following a brief illness. His passion was building homes, loved camping and fishing with his grandchildren, always making jokes and wisecracks. He was preceded in death by his mother, Beatrice Martinez, daughter, Samantha Martinez, brother, Paul Martinez and Benito Martinez, and sister, Barbara Martinez. He is survived by his father, Jake Martinez of Ensanada, son, J.J. Martinez and wife Lorina; grandsons, Izaiah and Nathaniel Martinez, mother of his son, Ruby Martinez, all of Gallina; godson Justin Martinez of Ensenada, goddaughter, Suzzette Garcia and husband, Juan of El Duende, brothers and sisters, Frieda Martinez and companion Ben Cordova of Ensenada, Fatima Martinez-Berry and husband, Jon of Corrales, Eddie Martinez and wife, Ersie of Espanola, Gloria Martinez and companion, Alan Younker of Ensenada, Robert Martinez of Espanola, Chris Martinez and companion, Laverne of Ensenada and many other special uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Recitation of the rosary to be recited on Friday, April 9, 2010 at 7 PM at San Jose Catholic Church in Los Ojos. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 10th at 12:30 PM at San Jose Catholic Church with interment to follow at the San Joaquin Cemetery in Ensenada. Reception will follow at the Los Ojos Parish Hall. Serving as pallbearers will be: Justin Martinez, Eddie Martinez, Christopher Martinez, Melvin Jaramillo, Michael Berry, Benny Cordova, Juan Garcia and James Martinez. Honorary pallbearers: his grandsons, nephews and nieces.
