Jesus Tomas Juarez

October 8, 1938 — November 9, 2006

Jesus Tomás Juárez of Chimayo, New Mexico passed away November 9, 2006 to join our Lord Jesus Christ. He is preceded in death by his parents Jesús and Ramona Juárez, as well as brother Adan and sister Erminia. Jesus is survived by his eight children, Jesse, Joseph, Louis, Valentina, Juana, Manuel, Erminia, Juan, Agnes his wife of 30 years and five grandchildren, Jennie, Rebecca, Maximo, Emily, and Ramona. He is also survived by his brothers Luis, Juan, Roberto, Reymundo, Santiago and sister Teresa. Jesus served his country as a member of the United States Navy from January 1956 to August 1959. He completed two circumnavigations of the globe as a crewman on the USS Essex and drove a landing craft for marines in Lebanon in 1957. He worked for the US Postal Service upon his honorable discharge from the US Navy in 1959. He attended New Mexico Highlands University from 1968 until 1971. He moved to Seattle Washington in 1973 and worked at the University of Washington until 1978. He and his family returned to New Mexico in 1979 and moved to Chimayo in 1983. Pallbearers are his sons and nephew Ernesto Juarez and honorary pallbearers are the fraternal Critters Club. Services for Jesús are being conducted by Block-Salazar Mortuary, 305 Calle Salazar, Española, NM 87532, Phone: 505.753.2288 and at Holy Family Catholic Church, State Rte 76, Chimayo, NM 87522, Phone: 505. 351.4360 Schedule: Saturday November 11th, 1p.m. - 6 p.m. Public viewing at mortuary Sunday November 12th, 12 noon - 6 p.m. Public viewing at mortuary Monday November 13th, 10:30 a.m. Mass at Holy Family church Monday November 13th, 1 p.m. Interment at Santa Fe National Cemetery The family request that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to the Jesús T. Juárez Memorial Scholarship at New Mexico Highlands University (NMHU Foundation, Box 9000, Las Vegas, New Mexico 87701)
