Joanne M. Rupprecht 1/21/1934-3/11/2021.
Joanne Rupprecht, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on March 11th after losing her battle with Multiple Myeloma. Joanne was born in Detroit, Michigan to the late Howard and Kathleen Moore.
She was preceded in death by sisters Carolyn (Erickson) of Albuquerque, twins Mary and Martha Moore of Los Alamos, and Niece Karen Erickson of Santa Fe.
Joanne graduated from Berkley High School in Berkley, Michigan in 1952. She worked as a cashier at a local telephone company for a few years before meeting her late former husband. In 1958, they moved from Michigan to Albuquerque with their young son, Mark. While in Albuquerque they welcomed two more children, Ward and Kathy. In 1964, the family moved to Los Alamos. Joanne was able to stay home and raise her children while supporting her family’s many activities and passions which included camping and exploring the great outdoors, regularly riding horses, and cross-stitching. The family especially enjoyed bowling, game nights, and yearly trips to Ouray, Colorado.
In 1986, Joanne moved to her own home in El Rancho, living near her daughter and her family. Joanne worked at the Los Alamos Decol’s Hallmark store for a few years. She then began working as a driver for the Los Alamos Senior Center, retiring in 1998. Since then, she has enjoyed travelling cross country (she loved the Northeastern States) in groups, cruising aboard luxury liners to Hawaii, Alaska, and the Carribean Islands, and abroad to Ireland. She especially enjoyed travelling along the Mississippi River on river boats. Once Joanne became a grandmother, she devoted much of her time to her grandchildren by hosting “Grandma Nights'' and creating the most wonderful memories with them. Her true passion was “hanging out” with family. She leaves her love, devotion, and deep sense of humor imprinted in our hearts.
Joanne is survived by her 3 children: Mark (Darla) of Colorado Springs, CO and their daughters: Kimburly Beever of Colorado Springs, CO; and Denise Anderson (Jason) of Pueblo CO; Ward (Katrina) of White Rock and their children: Shanda Moore (Brian) of White Rock; Erika Stupka (Jake) of White Rock; and Stuart (Jacinta) of Albuquerque; Kathy Martinez (Julian) of El Rancho and their children: Angela Bentley of Albuquerque; Jessica Duran (Antonio) of El Rancho; and Gabriel (Aimee) of Alamosa, CO; 16 great-grandchildren; 2 nieces: Kathleen Erikson of New Hampshire, and Kristine Erikson of California; 1 first cousin: Paul S. Moore of Maryland; and a great many close friends. Joanne was a member of the White Rock Methodist Church.
