Joan W. Blood

Joan J.B W. Blood age 80 of Ohkay Owingeh, NM. (formerly named San Juan Pueblo) died peacefully on May 18, 2009 in her home with her family at her side. She was born in New Hampshire to the late Harry and Dorothy Woods. Mrs. Blood and her husband retired to New Mexico to the former Dorothy Kent Compound on the banks of The Rio Grande River, where they opened Chinguague Compound Bed and Breakfast. As inn keepers they met lifelong friends from all over the world. J.B. also volunteered as a Pink Lady at the Espanola Hospital. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter and son; Kathleen and Michael McKenna. She enjoyed Alpine and down hill skiing with her husband of 55 years; Philip E. Blood. Along with her husband she is also survived by her children: Maureen G. McKenna of San Juan Pueblo, NM and Kevin A. McKenna of MA., grandchildren; Doctor Amanda Peer D.D.M. and husband Carl of CT., Sarah K. McKenna Esq. of MA., and Ethan W. Kopacz of AK. as well as other relatives from New England. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at the Chinguague Compound Monday, May 25th and Tuesday May 26th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m..
