Joe B Martinez

Joe B. Martinez age 86, a resident of Velarde passed away on July 31, 2017 following a lengthy illness and a broken heart after losing his beloved wife Flora Martinez on June 29, 2017. Joe was preceded in death by his wife; Flora Martinez, Parents; Juan Pablo and Eutimia Martinez, Daughter; Lena Anaya, Sister: Rosie Mascarenas, Brother in Law; Albert Gonzales, Daughter in Law; Geraldine Martinez. Joe is survived by his Sons; David Martinez, Terry Martinez and wife Lenora, Brothers: Arthur Martinez and wife Darlene, Horace Martinez and wife Gloria, Sisters; Lucy Gonzales, Lila Gallegos, Grandson; Danny Anaya and wife Frieda, Granddaughters: Michelle Moore and husband David, Jeanelle Anaya, Cindy Chavez and husband Monse, Delilah Martinez and Fiancé Jack, Amanda Trujillo and husband David. Twelve Great-grandchildren. Joe served in the Korean War and was a member of the Civic/Fraternal American Legend Organization. He loved working at his gas station and took great pride in it. He had a great sense of humor and was always joking with everyone. Flora, his wife was his everything and couldn’t live without her, they are reunited up in heaven once again. He was a family oriented individual and loved his family greatly. He will be greatly missed and loved dearly. Public visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 8, 2017. 6:00 PM at the Rivera Family Funeral Home, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2017, 9:00 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Velarde, New Mexico. Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, 2:15 PM. Serving the Family as Pallbearers will be Jeff Martinez, Ernie Gonzales, Jose Anaya, Josh Quintana, David Varela, and Jerome Martinez. The family of Joe B. Martinez has entrusted the care of their loved one to the Rivera Family Funeral Home and Crematory, Espanola, New Mexico.
