Joe C. Medrano

March 3, 1933 — December 18, 2019

Joe C. Medrano was called to our Lord on December 18, 2019, he was born March 3, 1933 and lived all his life in Santa Fe, NM. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War and retired from NM Taxation and Revenue Dept. after 26 years. With his family he enjoyed camping, fishing and going to the casinos, he also enjoyed bowling, billiards, painting, tin work and wood carving until a stroke in 2005 left him partially paralyzed. He left many pieces of artwork with his family. Joe still enjoyed going to the Mary Esther Gonzales Center to socialize until illness kept him home.

He is preceded in death by an infant son, Adrian, his parents Manuel and Frances Medrano, his brother Frank Medrano and sister Carol Medrano.

Joe is survived by his wife of more than 60 years, Rosina Medrano; daughters: Liz Armijo, Cecilia Medrano (Pascual), Josephine Medrano, Laura Sanchez (Patrick) and son Jim Medrano. Grandchildren; Pascual Hernandez (Alma), Diana Armijo (Tyler), Francisco Hernandez, Gabriella Olguin and Adriana Sanchez, great grandson Damian Aragon, sisters Carmen Ortiz (Frank), Angie Garcia (Willie), Sophie Gonzales (Mariano) and Florinda Lujan (Armando) brothers Louie Medrano (Barbara), David Medrano (Rosemary) and Richard Medrano (Carol) and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jim Medrano, Pascual Hernandez, Francisco Hernandez, Damian Aragon, Pascual Hernandez Limas and Patrick Sanchez.

A special thank you to Tina Gurule who helped us take care of our Dad at home and to the caring staff at Mi Casa Bonita Assisted Living Home.

Services will be held on January 6, 2020 at Cristo Rey Church (1120 Canyon Rd, SF, NM), viewing starts at 9am, Rosary 9:20, Mass begins at 10am, burial 12:45pm National Cemetery with reception following in the Cristo Rey Hall.
