Joe E. Martinez, 87 – A resident of Santa Fe, New Mexico passed away of natural causes on November 11, 2018. He was born on July 16, 1931 to Benita Aranda and Filiberto Martinez in Espanola, New Mexico. Joe married Connie Martinez in Orlando, Florida on November 5, 1951. He is preceded in death by his wife, Connie Martinez; father, Filliberto Martinez; mother, Benita Aranda Martinez; sisters: Orelia Castillo, Theresa Aranda and Lorraine Herrera. Joe is survived by his son, Dennis Martinez (Carmen) of Santa Fe; daughters: Kathy CeDebaca (Anthony) of Santa Fe, Margaret Olewnik (Rick) of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren: Mark Martinez (Melody) of Santa Fe, Anne CeDebaca (Steve) of Albuquerque, Jonathan Martinez of Oahu, Hawaii, Daniel Martinez (Laura) of Santa Fe, Michael CeDebaca of Chandler, AZ, Matthew CeDebaca (Jennifer) of Santa Fe, brother, Phil Martinez (Esther) of Santa Fe, sister, Yolanda Martinez (Rudy) of Santa Fe. Joe served in the U.S. Army for 4 years and was a corrections officer for 20 years, Santa Fe Fire Department for 5 years and a Construction Carpenter for 2 years. He loved fishing in rivers and streams, enjoyed camping, reading and gardening. Joe served as a Church Usher for several years. He enjoyed spending time visiting with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Joe was married to his loving wife Connie of 67 years and followed her to be with our Lord two and a half weeks after her death. A rosary will be recited at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, November 26, 2018 at Santa Maria De La Paz Catholic Church with a Funeral Mass to follow at 9:30 a.m. The Interment will follow with full military honors at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 11:15 a.m. Serving as pallbearers will be: Mark and Daniel Martinez, Michael and Matthew CeDebaca, Anthony Romero and Rick Olewnik. Serving as the honorary pallbearers will be Jonathan Martinez and all of his great-grandchildren.
