Beloved Husband, Father, and Pampo

Joe A. Montoya (Archie) joined our Dear Lord on Sunday, July 26, 2020. Joe was born to Jose and Emena Montoya on November 15, 1940 in San Pedro, NM.

He attended Albuquerque High (1958), where he met and married the love of his life. They were married on November 26, 1960.

Joe was a devout catholic and involved in many movements. Including, Marriage Enrichments, Weekend of Christian Living and the Cursillo. Strumming his guitar and singing was a daily blessing to us all. He loved his music and would sing all of his favorite songs.

In 1980, he moved his family to Santa Fe to open up De Vargas Glass Co. Special recognition to Arcy Duran, who he mentored and worked with for many years.Joe will be missed tremendously. He was loving and had a great sense of humor.

Joe (Archie) was preceded in death by his parents, Jose R. and Emena Montoya; his in-laws, Jim and Petra Ipiotis; sisters, Monica Harrison and Maxine Ramirez; nephew, Anthony Salazar; and brother-in-law, Sam Baca.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Viola Montoya; children, Rebecca Montoya-Lujan, Gerald L. Montoya and Evelyn Rivera (James); grandchildren, Alberto Montoya (Cindy), Jonathon Lujan (Bernadette), Antonia Lujan, Randi Ortega (Daniel), Brandon Montoya, Bobbi Tenajera (Moises), Marissa Ruyle (Sam), Matthew Oakeley (Miranda), Mitchell Oakeley (Maya), and Alyssa Rivera; great-grandchildren, Isaac, Dion, Jerome, Gabriel, Jazlynn, Leandro, Cipriana, Vayda, Sefriano, Josiah, Roman, Abram, Alizae, Charlie and Baby; sisters, Helen Salazar (Alex), Janette Ramirez (Ralph), and Therese Maestas (Benjie); sister-in-law, Lorraine Baca. Archie is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Sheila, Alex, Lawrence, Regina, Brian, Katrina, Maria Emena, Tomas, Jennifer and Leonard.

Due to covid restrictions, a private family service was held. Family expresses appreciation to everyone that has supported them during this loss.
