Joe Ortiz

The Ortiz Family is saddened to announce the death of their oldest brother, Joe Lucas Ortiz.  He is survived by his mother Helen, daughter Jomarie, sisters (Marie, Diana, Beth, and Martha), brothers (Donald, Richard, Anthony, and Adam), nieces, and nephews.  Joe was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the USAF in Thailand.  Joe Ortiz was a friend to many around Santa Fe, and the Ortiz Body Shop has been a fixture in the City since Joe’s father started it in the 1950’s.  Joe was an avid bowler and played baseball in local leagues for many years.  A Mass of Christian burial will be held for him at St. Anne Catholic Church (511 Alicia St., Santa Fe, NM) on January 16, 2023 (Rosary at 9:00 AM, Mass at 10:00 AM), to be followed by internment at the National Cemetery at 1:00 PM on January 17, 2023.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be directed to veteran’s causes.
