Joe Salazar

JOE S. SALAZAR SR., 100, of Santa Fe/Velarde, passed away from natural causes on Wednesday August 14th, 2019. Joe was born March 1, 1919. He was the husband of Celia Salazar for 73 glorious years.

Joe is survived by his two children, Joe Jr. (wife Deb) and Patricia Salazar; grandchildren Patrick and Sharon Garrett, Jason, Allana, Nick Cartier and their children; great grandchildren Madison and Alina Garrett; siblings Henry (June) and Raymond (Evila) Salazar; nephews Pete and Jerry (Lois) Real; and niece Margaret Rael.

Joe is preceded in death by his wife Celia; parents Manuel and Sinforosa Salazar; son Carlos “Sonny” Salazar; daughter Betty Garrett; and siblings Corrine, Rubin (Rufina), Rex (Flavio), Alex (Stephie), Manuel (Isabel) Salazar and Lyda (Bobby) Byers.

Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services at the St. Francis Cathedral on Wednesday August 28, 2019, with the Eulogy beginning at 9:45 a.m. followed by celebration of the Mass at 10:00 am, to be followed by full military burial honors at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Eagles Club located at 833 Early Street in Santa Fe.
