John Charles Patrick Chapman passed away in the early morning of November 4th, 2024, after a long battle with various illnesses.
John was a generous man, willing to lend his shirt or a story to anyone in need. He proudly served in the United States Army during Vietnam and was an active Veteran in New Mexico as a member of the the VFW Post 2951. An architect by passion, he worked at Los Alamos National Laboratory as a Facility Manager until 2009, and he spent his last 6 months designing a church with classrooms for a tribe in Uganda. John had a way with words, but his acceptance of those around him was exuded in the way he spoke of his family. Although the family is saddened by the loss, they know that John is better now, drinking Dr. Pepper with his family members in Valhalla.
John is living in memory and spirit by his Wife (Jana), son (Josh), son-in-law (Benito), his adored in-laws (Bennie and Veronica Gomez), his grandchildren (Cesar, Destiny, Max, Marcos, Stev, Lexi, Bryan, Jamie, and Eric) and his beautiful angel of a great granddaughter, Ariela.
Services will take place on November 23 from 1:00pm to 2:00 pm at Rivera Family Funeral Home in Espanola, NM.
