JOHN. B. CATANACH SR., 96, beloved father, grandpa, great-grandpa, uncle, cousin, and friend was called to his eternal resting home in Heaven, June 10, 2022. He was born to Leo D. Catanach and Crucita Trujillo Catanach on February 5, 1926. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Rebecca, his only daughter Cindy (Karl Arbanas), his seven sons; David (Maureen), Sam (Shirley), Robert (Alice deceased), John Jr., Mark (Mako), Phillip (Deena), and Carlos, also his twenty-five grandchildren; Tom (Kristen), Lauren, Josh, Sam Jr., Sherrie (Jonathan), Simon, Solomon, Samantha, Stephan, Simone, Michael, Juan Jose (JJ), Najullah, Ramon, Emma, Erin, Chris, Renee, Luke, Nathan, Spencer, Gavin, Lorelai, Phineas, and Penelope, and five great-grandchildren; Trinity, Niko, Bennett (Makowa), Rebecca, and Matteo, nieces Maria McDuff and Stephanie McDonald, and many more relatives.
John is preceded in death by his father Leo D. Catanach, mother Crucita Trujillo Catanach, brother Alfredo Catanach (Amelia), sister Tina McDuff (Gerald) and his daughter-in-law Alice Catanach. John was a graduate of St. Michaels High School (Class of 1945), Santa Fe Business College, and was a WW II Army Veteran.
John and Rebecca were married in 1955, making Santa Fe their home raising eight children. John was a Business Manager retiring from Capitol Ford after 35 plus years of service.
John truly enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a long-time member of St. Johns the Baptist Catholic Church and was an active member of the community. Throughout the years he volunteered in various ministries and organizations including the St. Vincent De Paul Society, Optimist Club, and Little League where he made lifelong friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Special thanks to the team at Santa Fe Care Center.
A Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Mass of the Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Interment with full Military Honors at 1:00 P.M. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
