Johnny G. Gutierrez passed away peacefully at the age of 76, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, January 24, 2024. He was born in Madrid, NM, and is preceded in death by his parents, Fred Sam and Nellie Gutierrez; brothers Ricky and Andrew Gutierrez; sister Rosella Atchison (Wayne); aunt Teresa Hernandez; uncles Orlando and Jimmy Hernandez; father and mother-in-law John J. and Dora Vigil; sister-in-law Tina V. Martinez (Polito); brothers-in-law Johnny Vigil Jr., George Gonzales, Arthur Aragon; and nephews Anthony and Javier Gonzales.
Johnny is survived by his loving wife and caregiver of 56 years, Georgia; his daughters, Jessica Martinez (Gilbert) and Maria Martinez (Gus); and his son, Johnny Gutierrez (Erica). He is also survived by his loving grandchildren Joselyn, Augustine, Teya, Sarah, and Christian Martinez; great-grandson Bradley Gutierrez; brothers Freddy and Frank Gutierrez; sisters-in-law Celine Gonzales, Socorro Aragon, and Olivia Bacon (John).
Johnny served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, spent his life in community service as a Sheriff’s Deputy, and later worked with the Santa Fe Senior Program. The roles he cherished most were Husband, Father, and Grandfather. Johnny loved to ranch, camp, fish, and spend time with his family. He had a great devotion to God and will be dearly missed.
The family would like to thank the Santa Fe Dialysis staff who have cared for him over the years. Services will be held at Santa Maria de la Paz on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, with a Rosary beginning at 9:30 am, followed by Mass at 10 am. Johnny will then be interred at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with full Military Honors at 12:30 pm. The family would like you to join them in celebrating Johnny’s life at 1:00 pm at the Elks Lodge at 1615 Old Pecos Trail, Santa Fe, NM 87505.
