Jose Abedon Maestas

Jose Abedon (Waldo) Maestas age 88, a resident of Ranchitos, NM, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, March 15, 2010 following a short illness; he was surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his wife Carlota Maestas, Sons, Daniel Maestas and Pat Maestas, Sisters; Ernestina Viarreal and Odilia Montoya, Mother Andrea Maestas , His brothers; Alfredo Maestas, Tito Maestas, Benny Maestas, and a daughter-in-law Orlinda Maestas. Mr. Maestas is survived by daughters: Martha Vigil and husband Frank of El Rito, Lorenza Sandoval and husband Ramon of Arroyo Seco, Ida Vigil and husband Elfego of El Rito, Sally Avila of Denver, Co., and Mary Velasquez and husband Elmer of Cañones, Sons; Dennis Maestas and companion Eva of Arroyo Seco, Joe Maestas and companion Socorro, Emery Maestas, Henry Maestas and Frank Maestas, all of Ranchitos, Brother, Bonifacio Maestas of California, Sister, Mary Wright of Albuquerque, Daughter-in law, Mary Maestas of Arroyo Seco, Brother-in-law, Ernesto Marquez and wife, Bernie of Ranchitos, 24 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nephews, nieces and other friends and relatives. Pallbearers: Jason Velasquez, Joey Vigil, Paul Sandoval, Andrew Maestas, Patrick Maestas and Peter Sandoval and Alfred Trujillo. A public viewing is scheduled for Wednesday, March 17 at 6:00 pm with recitation of the rosary following at 7:00pm at Rivera Family Funeral Home. The mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 18, 11:00 am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh with Fr. Terry Brennen. Interment to follow at Santa Cruz Cemetery.
