Mr. Jose B. Sisneros, age 92, of Ranchos de Taos passed away peacefully on May 1, 2016. He was born on August 8, 1923. He is preceded in death by his wife of 71 years Maria Sisneros, father Procopio Sisneros and mother Beatrice Sisneros, father and mother-in law, Abel and Maria Inez Romero, brothers Paul Sisneros and Jake Mascarenas, sisters Anita Sisneros, Eloisa Trujillo and daughter Beatrice ‘Guera’ Rodriguez. Jose is survived by his sons Joe (Rose), Johnny (Dorothy), David (Maggie) and Steven Sisneros, daughters, Prescilla Varos (Celso), Benita Lucero (James) and Mary Cardenas (Manuel), sister, Frances Vigil (Tony), brothers-in law Joe Romero (Isabel) and Pete Romero (Chelo), twenty grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by many loving nephews, nieces and friends. Jose was born in Placitas, NM and later moved to Redcliff, Colorado. Jose served proudly in the Navy during World War II aboard the USS Lunga Point. He married and eventually settled in the Ranchos de Taos area where he raised his family whom he loved dearly. Jose enjoyed watching his favorite baseball team, the LA Dodgers and western movies. He was instrumental in securing domestic water for the community of Ranchos and served many years as a ditch mayordomo but his greatest joy was spending time, entertaining and caring for his family.
A rosary was held on May 27, 2016. Followed by a funeral mass at San Francisco de Asis Church in Ranchos de Taos, with burial taking place at the Nasareno Cemetery also in Ranchos de Taos, New Mexico.Arrangements by Rivera Family Funeral Home.This obituary is protected by copyright laws, unauthorized use or duplication is prohibited.
