Jose Candido Garcia, 80, was born in the village of Ranchos de Taos, on August 20, 1929. His parents were: Jose de Jesus Garcia and Juanita Isabel Pacheco. He passed away on Saturday, March 6, 2010. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose J. & Juanita P. Garcia; his maternal grandparents; Don Manuel Lauro Pacheco and Dona Ramoncita Vialpando Pacheco, his paternal grandparents; Don Francisco de Jesus Garcia and Dona Maria Luz Sanchez-Garcia; his three sisters, Petra Marcella Garcia, Maria Ophelia Luz Garcia (Burt) and Teresita Nora Garcia-Rael and most recently his nephew, Fernando Mario Rael. Candido is survived by his only brother, Jose Rumaldo Garcia and wife, Cora of Ranchos, two nephews, Francisco Garcia and Rolando Rael, 12 nieces, Maria Isabel Garcia, Francina VanCourt, Cynthia Rodriguez, Melissa Kirgery, Marcella Rael, Cristella Duarte, Juanita Burt, Francisca waterman, Theresa Burt, Marissa Flood, Georginna Ward and Christina DeJohn. He is also survived by his two brothers in law, Phillip J. Rael and George A. Burt, plus many other extended relatives, neighbors and friends. Candido served in the U.S. Army with the 7th Calvary Division in South Korea from June, 1954 to may, 1956. After his Army tour, he attended vocational school under the G.I. Educational Act studying in automobile mechanics and Spanish Colonial wood furniture making. He made many beautiful pieces of Spanish Colonial furniture. Being a very humble and reserved person he bonded to his few animals and small farm for a few years. He was also a loyal and devoted son to our mother, Juanita and to our church, San Francisco de Asis here in Ranchos. Rosary and funeral mass were held on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church. Interment was held at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
