Jose Ray Chavarria Obituary. If not this week, please next weeks publication.
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Jose Ray Chavarria, 47, of Santa Clara Pueblo, born on November 2, 1976, and who peacefully departed at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, August 11, 2024, after a lengthy battle with a rare & very aggressive esophageal cancer.
Ray is preceded in death by his father Juan Chavarria, brother Fredrick Chavarria, brothers-in-law Norman Gurule & Joey Manzanares, mother-in-law Nellie Manzanares, and very close nephew, who he raised as his own, Anthony Manzanares, and his beloved fur baby’s Maggie Mae (squishy fat face) & peanut.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 30 years, Jenell, his son’s Lucas Chavarria, Matthew (Brandy) Chavarria, and daughter Tiana Chavarria, very close nephews who he raised as his own, Edward (Cheryl) Manzanares and Jimmy Vigil, his newly & most cherished Grandson who stole his heart Asher, and goddaughters Heaven Martinez and Nettie Manzanares, his mother Marlene Chavarria, sister Lita Gurule, his long-time special childhood friend, who he considered his brother from another mother, Manuel, and Samuel (Denise) Maldonado, and many cherished nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ray was an extraordinary person with a goofy sense of humor. He loved, cherished and valued his family, but above all he loved the Lord and was passionate about doing his work. He loved spending time with his family, and the outdoors, and always included all those youngsters who adopted him over the years. He was always willing to go the extra mile for all those he loved and knew.
Ray will be missed by all who knew & loved him.
A funeral service was held August 16, 2024, at 2 PM at the Rock Christian outreach in Espanola, NM.
