Jose Donicio Romero

Jose Donicio Chewy Romero, 72, of Taos passed away at home on Saturday, December 11, 2010 surrounded by his loved ones after a battle with cancer. He was born in Rodarte, NM on February 27, 1938. He lived his adult life in Taos. He is preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Carlota Romero, grandmother, Margarita Sanchez and Eloy Savala who raised him, sisters, Beatrice Mascarenaz and Grace Martinez, his father and mother in law, Antonio and Emma Jeantette, his brother in law, Salomon Dominguez, nephew, Stephen Dominguez, close cousin, Pauline Lopez Amos who was like a sister and Vangie Lindamood, cousins, Richard Boy Lucero and Anthony Vigil. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Faby Romero, his nephew, Michael and niece Rayla that took care of him through his illness like a son and daughter, his grandchildren, Michael Jr. (Jaclyn) and children, Kara & Jezelle Dominguez, a nephew he raised, Patrick Dominguez (Roseann) and their children, Mark (Mandy), Johnathan, Jerome (Christy) and Jalyssa, sisters in law, Frances Dominguez and son, Mario and niece, Erica Dominguez, Melly Vigil (Fermin) and children, Kenny (Maria) and their children, Kenny Jr. and Antonio, Shirley Vigil and children, Melissa, David and Amanda, his sisters, Patsy Gonzales, (Chris), Erma Cassidy (Sam) and Polly Mascarenaz, his brothers, Tony Romero (Cecil) and Joe Romero, his close cousins that were raised as siblings, Eddie Lopez (Sophie), Charlotte Taylor and Margaret Padilla and a very close nephew, Bobby Gene Taylor and several nephews and nieces he loved. Rosary was recited on December 13, 2010. Funeral mass was held on December 14, 2010. Both services were held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church with interment following at the Las Cruces Cemetery.
